Gallbladder cancer occurs when healthy cells in the gallbladder change and grow out of control, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign. A cancerous tumor is malignant, meaning it can grow and spread to other parts of the body. A benign tumor means the tumor can grow but will not spread.
There's no known way to prevent most gallbladder cancers. Many of the known risk factors for gallbladder cancer, such as age, sex, ethnicity, and bile duct defects, are beyond our control.
Chemotherapy is usually used as a palliative care treatment for gallbladder cancer. It may be recommended after the tumor has been removed surgically. Chemotherapy used before surgery is called neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Chemotherapy used as an additional therapy after surgery is called adjuvant chemotherapy.
Treatment for acute myeloid leukemia is vital. It varies with the patient and stage of the disease. Treatment options include
Surgery. Gallbladder cancer may be treated with a cholecystectomy, surgery to remove the gallbladder and some of the tissues around it. Nearby lymph nodes may be removed. A laparoscope is sometimes used to guide gallbladder surgery
