Blood Bank
The Blood Centre at the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital (MGMCH) is providing world-class transfusion services. It is the first blood centre in Asia to receive the International Quality Certificate from the American Association of Blood Bank, USA,National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH)-accredited blood centre and is ranked number one by the National Blood Transfusion Council among all the medical college-based blood centres in the State of Rajasthan.
It has the first state-of-the-art National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)-accredited) transplant immunology lab with the facility of Luminex, Flow cytometer, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), and has received appreciation for ABO-incompatible renal transplant and for cadaveric transplant HLA testing in the State of Rajasthan. The blood centre has recent and advanced facilities including hematopoietic stem cell harvesting, granulocyte concentrate, lymphocyte collection, leucodepleted blood products, blood irradiation, single donor platelets (SDP), COVID-19 convalescent plasma, NAT-tested blood products, component modification for intrauterine transfusion, thalassemia screening, Immunophenotyping and molecular testing for leukaemia, the workup for autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (AIHA), red cell antibody screening of all the donors and recipient and therapeutic procedures e.g. therapeutic plasma exchange in life-threatening cases of myasthenia gravis, GB syndrome, to support solid organ transplant and double cascade plasmapheresis in ABO-incompatible renal transplant.
