MGMCH has a dedicated Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology to provide comprehensive care for pregnant & gynaecology Cancer patients. The department comprises a team of skilled Gynaecologic oncologist , nursing staff & other paramedical staff, who treat patients using state-of-the-art holistic facilities.

We have a team of highly qualified gynaecologists with many years of quality experience to their credit who consistently deliver high-quality Surgical and medical care to patients along with effective communication. Department of Gynaecological Oncology gamut of Gynaecological cancer care. We have a fully equipped department with state-of-the-art OTs, procedure room with colposcopy, cryocauterization and other equipment to manage Gynaecological pre cancers and cancers.

The department is aptly supported by onco pathology, onco radiology, nuclear medicine and other ancillary services to provide comprehensive Gynaecological cancer care.

In my 22+ years of experience in this speciality practise, I have found that for various reasons public lacks awareness about this subject. It has been tough to make people acknowledge this speciality. I applaud the management of MGUMST to not only start this speciality but to focus on its future too.

Dr. Ranu Patni Received prestigious "Chikitsa Vibhushan" award by Jaipur Medical Association in 2017 and Received Academic Excellence award by Indian Medical Association, state branch in 2023

She also edited a book titled ‘Endometrial Carcinoma: Current Concepts’ published by Springer in 2017.

I hope the people of Rajasthan and other parts of the country will avail the state of the art services available in Gynecological Oncology at Sri Ram Cancer Centre, Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur and reap the benefits of quality management of all gynaecological cancers.

Infertility Clinic

The department has a state-of-the-art IVF Centre for ART and ICSI for patients facing challenges in conceiving through other medical procedures. We also provide assistance in systematic total infertility evaluation for both males & females, Ultrasound scanning, Doppler, HSG, sonosalpingography, IUI- treatment, Hysteroscopy, and Laparoscopic surgeries for infertility treatment.

Male Infertility Clinic

We have proficient experts for procedures like PESA, TESA, and Microsurgery for Tubal Recanalization.

Genetics Department

At MGMCH, we have an OPD for genetic counseling and investigations by expert geneticists. We offer treatment for previous bad obstetric history, elderly patients wishing to conceive, or patients with a family history of genetic abnormalities.

Cancer Clinic

We have advanced medical diagnostic equipment for preventive oncology screening that includes mammography for breast cancer, pap smear & biopsy for cervix cancer, ultrasonography for ovarian cancer & endometrial Biopsy for endometrial cancer. Our team also has surgeons who are experts in Gynaecological oncology surgeries like Wertheim’s hysterectomy and vulvectomy.

Menopausal Clinic

Menopause clinics are conducted in the out-patients clinic & screening facilities for cancer screening mammography, colposcopy and ultrasonography for breast cancer, cervical cancer, Uterine, and ovarian cancer respectively are available. Screening for cardiovascular diseases in menopause is done by qualified cardiologists.

Family Planning Clinic

Counselling for contraception, insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices & sterilization operations are done. Sterilization operations are done free of cost.

Our team emphasizes the Importance of maternal and child health. Our department guides different stages of pregnancy such as Early Development of the Embryo, Development of the Placenta and Membranes. We have experts in Applied Physiology who specialize in the Physiology of Ovulation, Conception, and Implantation. Our team guides the patients and their families through the physiological changes during pregnancy, labour, puerperium, lactation, etc.

Gynecological malignancies contribute to female health problems in a big way. In order to improve female health status in a society, it is very essential to prevent, diagnose early, diagnose correctly, treat properly and ensure a good quality of life after treatment during follow up of suspicious, premalignant and malignant lesions of the female reproductive tract.

FAQs

Main gynaecological cancers are-

  • Cancer of uterine cervix
  • Cancer of Endometrium
  • Cancer of Ovary
  • Cancer of Vulva/ Vagina
  • Cancers of the peritoneum, fallopian tubes and few others also fall in this branch.

Following should alarm the patient to go for further evaluation -

  • Persistent abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Post menopausal bleeding
  • Post coital bleeding
  • Persistent abnormal vaginal discharge
  • Persistent/ frequent altered bowel habits
  • Lump/ fullness in the abdomen
  • Vulvar/ vaginal/ cervical growth etc.

Yes, Cancer Cervix is preventable to a large extent. Primary prevention is by HPV vaccination. Secondary prevention is by screening by HPV DNA test and/or Cytology. Both primary and secondary prevention should be done under medical guidance

No, a biopsy does not cause spread of cancer. In fact, it is the most authentic way to diagnose cancer. However, it should be done judiciously by an expert for obtaining proper specimen.

An intact, large, complex ovarian/ adnexal cyst/mass should not be biopsied but should be removed intact by surgery. If there is already spread in the form of as it is etc., it can be biopsied. Again, any form of procedure should be done under expert guidance.

A Gynecological Oncologist who is trained in both gynaecology and oncology is the best person to treat gynaecological cancers.
