Dr Katiyar is Trauma Surgeon, Social activist, Artist, Writer and Researcher. He completed his graduation (MBBS) & Master of Surgery (MS-General Surgery) from Renowned Banaras Hindu University. MCh in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh. He also wanted to learn about disaster prevention and management, so he earned a postgraduate diploma in disaster management (PGDDM) from Indra Gandhi National Open University, Delhi. He is an expert in life-saving skills, performing emergency Surgeries (Trauma and Non-Trauma). He also has a special interest in trauma limb construction surgeries, He is known for saving mangled limbs and traumatic plastic reconstruction surgeries including Vascular, Microvascular, orthopaedic, and soft-tissue reconstructions. He routinely performs trauma laparotomy, thoracotomy, Damage control orthopaedics and vascular repair. He is also specialized in treating cut-throat and head injuries.
He noticed that even after developing new level 1 Trauma Centers, trauma-related deaths remain the same. People remain unaware of road safety, lack primary health services on time, lack life-saving skills among primary contact healthcare workers and paramedics, and bystanders are afraid of civil and criminal cases if they help trauma victims, poor roads, lighting, etc. Overall Social and safety awareness and training for primary healthcare workers may change the scene in India, and we will be able to save more lives. He founded a non-profit, non-governmental medical organisation that aimed to save more lives. The organization was named the PPD Foundation (Prevent Preventable Deaths). PPD Foundation targets Healthcare providers, Traffic Police, and other health providers to enhance basic lifesaving knowledge and spread road safety awareness. He also works in other Humanitarian NGOs national & international.
