We have a well-developed and well equipped department of Gastroenterology at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospitals, established in 2016.

Department of Medical Gastroenterology

The department constitutes 3 faculties and 9 residents (3/year) with OPD/ IPD/ ICU and endoscopy facilities. We have a dedicated teaching and training programme for our residents in clinical skills and endoscopic procedures.

We have a successfully running DM Gastroenterology programme with 3 MCI/ NMC recognized seats. We have published around 15-20 papers in national and international journals in the last 6 years.

We have done thousands of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures with great success including pancreatic endotherapy, endoscopic cysto-gastrostomy, stenting in complex hilar strictures, metallic - biliary, oesophageal and antro-duodenal stenting.

Recently received Best Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services award at Healthcare Leaders Summit 2022 by Economic times at New Delhi.

Heart, and throat. Avoid consumption of red meat - Stidies have found that eating too much red meat can increase the chance of colon cancer. Consuming processed meat doubles the risk of getting cancer as much as red meat. Maintaining a healthy weight is important to reduce the risk of cancer. Combine your diet plan with proper exercise to be fit. If you intend on losing weight, discuss the diet plan with the doctor and ensure that exercise is involved. Aim to reduce weight slowly by increasing the amount of exercise and reducing the calorie intake. Healthy consumption - Ensure that you eat a variety of fruits and vegetables regularly.
